Modern Warfare 3 price rumours explained: How much will new CoD cost?
There has been a lot of conjecture surrounding the price of Modern Warfare 3, with some rumours suggesting that the latest entry in the long-running Call of Duty series might be a little bit cheaper this year.
Activision has cleared the air somewhat ahead of the release of the new game, but fans looking to save a little bit of money might feel hard done by with the news, as it differs quite significantly from what was previously thought.
Modern Warfare 3 won't be an MW2 expansion
As reported by CharlieIntel, Activision itself has confirmed that "Modern Warfare 3 is a premium release" and that it will be "priced accordingly at $70 USD."
This is quite the contradiction to the rumour that it would be merely an expansion and that Modern Warfare 2 would be the first Call of Duty game to break the yearly release cycle.
Understandably, this has confused many fans who bought into MW2, thinking that it was going to be a longer project, and might lead to some players keeping their wallets closed when the MW3 release comes around in November.
Some regions might get Modern Warfare 3 cheaper
Call of Duty fans in some regions might be in for an additional treat though, as Modern Warfare 3 is showing up at a cheaper price on official storefronts, as reported by EssentiallySports.
YouTuber TheGamingRevolution has shown a leak of the Australian Steam listing that has MW3 at a mere $54.95 AUD, which comes out to just around $36 USD when you factor in conversion rates.
This is just about half the price of the expected $70 USD that many players will have to fork out if they want to play Modern Warfare 3, so we might all need to virtually travel to Australia if we're looking for a good deal.
It's not clear what's going on with the Modern Warfare 3 pricing structure, but as Activision seemingly locks in a $70 price tag, those Australia leaks might just be wishful thinking. Either way, CoD 2023 is sure to see the franchise laughing all the way to the bank.
